Education Plan vs Schedule Builder

Education Plan vs Schedule Builder

If you're joining us for another year of personalized learning, you might notice some differences between InfoCenter's Schedule Builder and our new platform's education plan.

Here is an overview of some of the biggest differences:

InfoCenter's Schedule Builder

OpenEd Platform's Education Plan

Required you to select a period, subject, course type, and description for each subject on your student's schedule

In most cases, you'll only be asked to choose the subject; in some cases, you'll also be asked to pick a course

Required you to select a course type for each subject, which directly related to the funding that you received for that course

We're getting rid of course types altogether; as long as your education plan fulfills the program's requirements, you can use your wallet however you want

Frequently Asked Questions

What's the difference between InfoCenter's Schedule Builder and the new education plan?

The Schedule Builder required selecting period, subject, course type, and description for each subject. The new education plan simplifies this - you typically only choose the subject, and sometimes a specific course.

Do I still need to select course types in the new education plan?

No, course types are being eliminated entirely. As long as your education plan fulfills the program's requirements, you can use your wallet however you want.

How did course types affect funding in the old Schedule Builder?

In InfoCenter's Schedule Builder, the course type you selected directly related to the funding you received for that course. This connection has been removed in the new system.

Is the new education plan simpler than the old Schedule Builder?

Yes, the new education plan is much simpler. Instead of selecting multiple components (period, subject, course type, description), you typically only need to choose the subject, with occasional course selection.
