As your student progresses through our program, you might come across some terminology that you haven't seen before.

Take a look at the glossary below to help you get up to date with the language that OpenEd uses. To make it easier for you to find what you're looking for, we've organized this list by different areas of focus.

Definition

Enrollment task

A task that you will need to complete to finish up your student's enrollment with OpenEd.

Some examples of enrollment tasks include: Uploading your student's birth certificate, agreeing to OpenEd's policies, or providing your student's immunization records (or exemption form).

School of enrollment

The OpenEd school partner where your student will be enrolled as a full-time public student.

All of your student's official records and transcripts are stored, controlled, and maintained by your student's school of enrollment.

State testing / Opt-out form

OpenEd students are required to either participate in all state tests or submit an opt-out form.

Please note: Some state tests are mandatory for all students without the option to opt out.

Immunization records / exemption form

As part of your enrollment tasks while enrolling your student, you'll be asked to upload your student's immunization records (or an exemption form) to comply with state immunization requirements.

Student clubs

OpenEd offers optional opportunities for students to participate in clubs and activities.

Proof of residency

In Iowa, our preferred form of residency documentation is specific to state requirements. You'll be asked to provide your proof of residency as one of your enrollment tasks.

Wyoming

  • Specific driver's license and vehicle registration requirements for residency

Proof of residency

You'll be asked to provide your proof of residency as one of your enrollment tasks.

Our preferred proof of residency is a Wyoming driver's license that displays your current address. If you don't have a license, you can also provide your current vehicle registration, a utility bill dated in the past 60 days, or other acceptable documentation.
