Once your student is enrolled through OpenEd, you'll receive access to a wallet of funds to support their unique learning plan. These funds can be used for educational materials and resources—as long as the purchase directly supports a subject or goal in your student's individualized education plan. Think of it like how a traditional school might provide textbooks, software, or lab kits—only now you choose what best fits your child.
Wallet Fund Basics

Q: What CAN funds be used for?
A: As mentioned above, funds can be used for educational resources that directly support your student's learning. Things like curriculum, books, online courses, learning tools, and supplies tied to subjects or goals in their plan. Just like a traditional school might provide textbooks or lab kits, you get to choose what works best for your child.
What Funds CANNOT Be Used For

- General household items (like furniture, rent, or cleaning supplies)
- Family vacations (and travel expenses)
- Non-academic extracurriculars (unless they're part of the approved education plan)
- Non-secular materials and curriculum

General Educational Supplies
Q: Will I be able to use my funds for educational expenses like supplies, notebooks, paper, devices?
A: Yes, we understand that there will be educational expenses that don't directly tie to one subject. In those cases, you'll utilize a selection to link them to a general educational supply.
Approval Process
Q: What happens if I submit something ineligible?
A: Our team will notify you and explain why it wasn't approved. You'll have the option to revise and resubmit if appropriate.
Q: Can I confirm that an item will be eligible for reimbursement before I make a purchase?
A: Absolutely! If your student's education plan is finalized, we can review your item ahead of time. If it's not yet finalized, we may not be able to guarantee approval. Email help@opened.co for our team to review your request.
Payment Options
Q: Do I have to pay out-of-pocket for resources?
A: Only if you want to! Through OpenEd, you have options.
- No out-of-pocket required: You can select resources through our Marketplace, Rainbow Resource, or Amazon
- Reimbursement option: Purchase items yourself and submit for reimbursement
